Budget & Beautiful:
Vienna can be an expensive city to stay in. Of course you want to be near everything but the city center can drain your wallet of Euros pretty fast. Thankfully Vienna has a world class transportation system that can whisk you anywhere in the city center pretty quickly. Therefore it is possible to stay slightly further out without sacrificing anything. What’s more, some of Vienna’s highlights, such as the famous Naschmarkt, are not even in the city center. My favorite place to stay in the city is the Pension Kraml. It is located near the Mariahilferstrasse, a major shopping street heading out of the historic center, near 2 metro stations, the Westbahnof and walking distance to the Naschmarkt. The street itself is quiet. The pension has large comfortable rooms, with high ceilings, and a tasty spread for breakfast. The service is also very nice. You cannot beat the Kraml for the price. When I go to Vienna, this is where I try to stay, although the last two times it was booked, sadly for me. Upon my suggestion my brother stayed there and liked it too when he went to Vienna. Hopefully my next trip there, and there will be one, I will book early enough to revisit this delightful place.
