REVIEW- Hotel Anno 1647, Stockholm

Historic hotel
The Hotel Anno 1647 came through for me at the last minute. My Airbnb’s booking had been canceled while I was on the train to Sweden from Denmark. Some booking conflict. Anyway, I immediately went on the train’s amazingly strong wifi and looked for another hotel in expensive Stockholm that I could afford. The historic Hotel Anno 1647 had one room left. It was quite affordable and the number wasn’t its address but when the building was constructed. As a historic architecture buff I was very intrigued. The hotel was quite hard to find although is it near a metro station. The street is just very small and hard to find, not really on any map. The building is quite old and doesn’t fit into the surrounding area which was built up much later. The hotel inside has a lot of twists and turns as you would expect from an old building. My room was very small though. It had a twin bed and a small desk. That’s it, reminded me of a cell in a monastery! I had no intention of being a monk on my holiday but this was only for one night. The restroom is almost the same size and was adequate. Probably could use some updating. The breakfast was very nice however, with all sorts of meats, cheeses, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. That really was filling. The location is very near the old town (1 metro stop, or you can walk across the bridge, but the junction’s traffic pattern is quite bizarre and the pedestrian tunnels are full of homeless Roma.) It was a great choice for a last minute crisis and I’m happy I didn’t have to book a place I couldn’t really afford.
