Best Coffee & Chocolate

Let’s get to the real crux of the travel experience, improving your mind and body. The Vitamin C’s are very good for our well-being, all the medical literature says so. Dr. Keith recommends you visit the following “clinics” to get your doses.

COFFEE

  1. Vienna, Austria- Yes it does live up to all the hype. You have a million different varieties, classy cafe atmosphere, old world style and delectable desserts to go with it. You even have well dressed waiters serve you a glass of water with your coffee. My 2 favorites coffees are the Einspanner and the less decadent Kapuziner. The Café Central is what you picture when you think of old world intellectuals planning a revolution over coffee. The Hotel Sachre Café is known for their namesake torte. But honestly there are hundreds of cafes in Vienna. Try them all but please stay away from the Starbucks there!
  2. Trieste, Italy- Pretty much an Italian Vienna, which makes sense as it was once an Austrian port where all that yummy coffee passed through.
  3. Vis, Croatia- The Kaffee mit Schlog was very good, but it might have something to do with drinking the coffee in paradise.
  4. Bruges, Belgium- Surprisingly the land of hot Belgian chocolate and tourists does amazing coffee. Can’t go wrong there!
  5. Barcelona, Spain- Cafe con leche is a great way to kickstart your morning. Is there anything in Barcelona that is not delicious?

CHOCOLATE

FYI- I’m a fan of the dark stuff. It’s healthy, it’s true, look it up!

  1. Antwerp, Belgium- The city contains many traditional chocolate shops with a large assortment of fantastic Belgian chocolates. The city is not too touristy so you can be assured of its quality.
  2. Bruges, Belgium- Chocolate shops are a dime a dozen here due to all of the tourists. Still the odds are with you that some of them will be of high quality. The idyllic setting makes the ambrosia more pleasant and there is a nice Chocolate museum. My travel partner bought Chocolate perfume. Not what you would think, but totally worked.
  3. Lucerne, Switzerland- Sorry Swiss I do prefer Belgian chocolate. Lucerne is a great spot to have a comparison though. Nothing wrong with making the world’s 2nd best chocolate.
  4. Innsbruck, Austria- Maybe its proximity to Switzerland has influenced the chocolate there, which is considerably better than in Vienna. The hot chocolate there melts a chocolate bar into hazelnut flavored milk. Hello!
  5. Amsterdam, Netherlands- From what I can remember the chocolate brownies there were a HIGHlight of my trip. Seriously it’s quite rich. If it wasn’t good the Dutch would just cross the border to Belgium in droves.

Honorable Mention: Hershey, Pennsylvania- I know many people knock Hershey’s chocolate (including me), but in this town your senses are overwhelmed by chocolate. How can this be a bad thing?
